About

Celine Pierron. Born in New York, 1996.

Pierron is a French-American multi-disciplinary creative who was raised in New York and Paris with Caribbean and European heritage.

Pierron’s primary focus in her creative practice is on exploring Creolity, Metissage, and the feminine Creole voice. Her work delves into themes such as feminism, women's bodies, language politics, and the Black body. Pierron aims to establish a meaningful dialogue around race, identity, and culture as well as foster visibility for underrepresented individuals.

Her photographic work encompasses emotional portraiture and vibrant images of street life. Using photography to showcase the day-to-day lives of others through her gentle gaze, Pierron is guided by very organic & honest intentions, capturing the essence of connection and commonality. In her photographic work, Pierron has captured artists such as Nexcyia, Lulu Wang, and Niamh Birch. Her photographs have been published in Fact Magazine, Crack Magazine, DJ Mag, and KALTBLUT Magazine.

Pierron made her directorial debut in 2022, commissioned by Nick Knight & Emma Dabiri to create a short film, Vagina, for SHOWstudio’s groundbreaking "Bodies of Knowledge" project, which challenges historical representations of the Black body in visual culture. Her film explores the feminine Creole experience, it articulates the complexity of Caribbean sexuality being both hyper-visual and obscured and affirms Black feminine power. It has since been showcased at the People's Pavilion Festival in London, SOMETHING Art Space in Cote d’Ivoire, & at 180's Reference Point in celebration of Women’s History Month where Pierron took part in a panel to discuss themes of womanhood, gender & sexuality.

Pierron continued her filmmaking journey with a 6-month residency in 2023 at Southbank Centre, sponsored by Apple. Working alongside Oscar-nominated Misan Harriman, Caleb Femi, Holly-Marie Cato, and Gary Stewart to create a thought-provoking piece, The Price We Pay, combining film-making, photography, and spatial sound design in response to the climate crisis. The film has since been exhibited at Factory International in Manchester and STEAMhouse in Birmingham.

Pierron has started exploring new mediums of creative expression and began acting & modelling. Pierron has modelled for brands such as Uniqlo and Nadine Mos, and acted in the production of Deborah-Joyce Holman’s moving-image piece “Close Up...” which was exhibited as part of their solo show, Living Room, at Kunsthalle, Bern.

A true champion of the arts, Pierron also works as part of the gallery team at 180 Studios and as a Freelance Producer + Production Manager, producing for clients such as Sky Max, Channel 4, Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Adidas.

In 2024 Celine was a recipient of the DYCP Grant by The Arts Council England. Celine is currently taking some time out to develop her understanding of Creolity, Creole history & researching the relationship between Creolistics, identity, image, sexuality & diaspora and finding ways in which she can further incorporate this into her practice to better tell the stories of marginalized people. This is aimed at directing an art film “Bitter Sweet (Amèr Dous)” to develop her filmmaking practice where Celine looks at sugar as a storyteller and the complicated relationship with sugar in black and brown communities, something that enslaves us across generations.

Pierron currently resides in London.
